About

Founded in 1991 by the late Saul Pomerantz, The Pomerantz Foundation continues to serve Montrealers under the supervision of the Pomerantz Family. After Saul’s passing in June 2002, the Foundation continued under the direction of Terry Pomerantz until 2024. Terry established the annual golf tournament, envisioning it as a way to rally the community and maximize the foundation’s impact. His decades of leadership and dedication to the cause have ensured that 100% of the funds raised go directly to helping children and their families. His sons, Derick and Jonathan Pomerantz continue the family tradition and focus much of the foundation’s attention and donations towards helping children and their families.

In addition to the annual golf tournament, the Pomerantz family contributes year-round, providing consistent funding for a wide range of charitable initiatives through its Foundation. Because the Foundation is entirely volunteer-run, 100% of donations go directly to recipients, with no management costs or salaries.

“A child is powerless over the economic conditions affecting their parents,” states Derick Pomerantz, President. “We believe that it is critical for families as blessed as ours, to help children from less fortunate backgrounds.”

The Pomerantz Foundation has donated to a wide range of more than 30 non-profit organizations and foundations since its inception in 1991. Recipients have included organizations working in the fields of medical research, education, assistance for seniors, women’s shelters, etc.

Organizations such as Sun Youth, La Sortie and West Island Women’s Shelter, Défi sportif AlterGo, Le Phare, Smiles of Innocence, The Starlight Children’s Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Myra’s Kids, and The Montreal Children’s Hospital have been added to this list.
